Energizing Education Staff
Lois Dunning is the Manager of Energizing Education. She previously worked as the Family Involvement Coordinator for the past three years. She earned her Bachelors of Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University. Lois is a happily married mother of two. She has always been very active with the schools and is passionate about the importance of reading and education.
Asa Fleming is the Literacy Specialist for Energizing Education. Her responsibilities include training volunteers, planning for instruction, monitoring the progress of students, and relaying information between mentors and teachers. She has a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), and a Masters in Reading from Eastern Michigan University. She enjoys reading, watching old movies, walking her dogs, and gardening.
Charlie Miller graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Family Studies. Charlie did her senior internship with Energizing Education and is currently our Recruitment Coordinator. She has a passion for people and enjoys growing our volunteer base. Charlie has a son named Desmond with whom she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending as much time as possible.
Eboné Worthey began with Energizing Education in August 2014 as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Prior to working with EE, Eboné spent two years working with City Year, a non-profit organization. Currently Eboné is our Communication & Data Coordinator. She enjoys reading and being with her family in her spare time. She is a Jackson-native and she enjoys having the chance to work in the community she was raised in.
Betsy Durant began with Energizing Education in October, 2016 as our Family Involvement Coordinator. Betsy graduated from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor’s degree in both Developmental Child Psychology and Communications. She has over 20 years’ experience in early childhood education and has served in many capacities in this field. Betsy enjoys gardening, writing, hiking, and just enjoying the outdoors.
